And the winning cover for THESE VICIOUS MASKS is…

Dear Swooners,

We want to thank you all so very much for voting for the These Vicious Masks covers! It was so fun to see the vote numbers go up and up and we both probably broke our mice clicking refresh. But we’re pleased to announce that the winner is…

is…

is…

THE SUPERHERO COVER!!!

Vicious masks_hidden[1]

Woooo!!!  From the first glance we had at the Swoon HQ, Tarun was sure this was going to be our cover. Kelly was waffling more, drawn to a few of the choices equally, and therefore so happy to leave it up to the readers! But as the voting week went on, she became more and more enamored: Yes. This was the cover we were meant to have, the one that best expresses all the elements of our story.

But can you blame her for being torn? How gorgeous are all of Rich’s and KB’s amazing covers? The ingenuity of the masquerade, the intrigue of the love triangle, the stunning top hat with glowing eyes in the clouds and the striking, dangerous shattered mask! Aghhhh! We want them all!!!!!!!

Ahem. But we love the superhero cover so very much. The ornate and intricate framing puts us in that Victorian state of mind, the mask captures both the superhero and society themes and the title font is a perfect blend for the era — the elegance, the adventure and the sinister. And that red ribbon. There’s something sexy and intriguing about it that sets the whole thing off, hopefully letting the reader know that something special is happening here. Something more than your average historical romance.

So thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for helping pick our book cover. It’s a huge thing, really, and we love that Swoon Reads asks you to decide. We love that you picked this one. We love … Well a lot of things, apparently.

We can’t wait for you to read the final version of These Vicious Masks, nestled inside its wonderful new cover. Thank you, Swooners all!

Now back to our editing caves…

Like Kelly, it’s growing on me. I can see its appeal and the embossing will set it apart from other books on the shelf. Congrats, Dynamic Duo (appropriate for celebration of the Superhero cover, yes?)
