Announcing Our Fourth List: LOVE, LIES, AND SPIES by Cindy Anstey, THE WAY TO GAME THE WALK OF SHAME by Jenn P. Nguyen, ALL THE FEELS by Danika Stone, THE BLACK ANGEL CHRONICLES by Kristen Orlando, and JUST FRIENDS by Tiffany Pitcock!
Hey Swoon Readers and Writers!
I’d like to say Happy Spring, but it was still winter this morning where I live!
That’s OK though, because I’m going to make myself warm and sunny by announcing our new swoon-to-be-published Swoon Reads titles! We have 5 manuscripts this time — a record!!!!
We’ve told you some about the process of working with you to find the books we want to publish. What we look for at Swoon Reads, and what I look for as a Publisher, is a story, a character, a premise I connect with. I want it to hit me in the gut, I want to laugh or cry — above all I want the read to be memorable. So here’s what we found in each book we chose that really made the story stand out:
In this hilarious homage to Jane Austen, a lady with a penchant for trouble finds a handsome spy much more than merely tolerable.
What we love: Suspenseful, funny and perfectly set in tone and style in a Jane Austen world. All while still feeling fresh with a winking modern sense of humor.
After a drunken night, Taylor’s shiny reputation is screwed unless she can tame the bad boy surfer.
What we love: OMG the opening chapter! A great take on a classic romantic trope. Bad boy/ perfectionist girl — funny, with just the right amount of sexy tension. And again, terrific opening chapter — who can resist Taylor army crawling around Evan’s floor?
Never underestimate the power of a fangirl. When Liv’s favorite Starveil character is killed off, she and best friend Xander, an aspiring actor and Steampunk enthusiast, decide to fight back — and end up changing everything.
What we love: A completely authentic portrayal of the world of fandom and, as Holly says, the novel contains her favorite book boyfriend — ever. (And she notoriously does not choose favorites!)
Reagan was born to be a spy. But will she turn her back on the world’s top-secret agency for love?
What we love: A teen girl in training to be an operative! We loved this girl and this premise of American secret agents working undercover but in plain sight in the USA. Way cool.
Chance and Jenny’s friendship is based on a series of elaborate lies, so how can he convince her that his love is real?
What we love: The characters! They stick with you. This is a book that you just can’t put down once you start reading.
So there you go. We’re excited and happy and proud. Congratulations Cindy, Jenn, Danika, Kristen, and Tiffany! And welcome to Swoon Reads!
Did you miss these manuscripts before they were chosen? No worries! All five of these books will remain available to read on-site until they move further into the editing process. We still want to hear your thoughts and ideas about what makes these stories great and what could make them even better. If you want to be a part of the editing process, please post your comments as soon as you can.
