Defy the Sun: The Playlist

Hello again, Swoon Readers! As I’m writing this, the conclusion to The Offering Series, Defy the Sun, is out TOMORROW!!! To say I’m excited and nervous would be an understatement.

To celebrate, and since I shared my playlist for Beware the Night, I’d love to share a few of my go-to songs from my Defy the Sun writing playlist (background: I make a new playlist for each project). These are the songs I would often put on repeat and let play over and over while I drafted the book.

"I’ve Been Alone Too Long" by Soko

It’s folksy, lyrical, and moody. Perfect for this book.

"When the Party’s Over" by Billie Eilish

Beautifully dark.

"Back to Black" by Amy Winehouse

An obvious choice.

"Kingdom Come" by The Civil Wars

So ominous it’s perfect.

"Lonely" by Noah Cyrus

Hauntingly gorgeous.

As I mentioned in my post about Beware the Night’s playlist, I *have* to listen to music or something inspiring while writing—it sort of ends up being my background muse. The playlist for Defy the Sun was particularly interesting to create because I ended up using several of the same artists as Beware the Night, but different songs which makes sense since the stories are set in the same world.

How about you, Swoon Readers, what do you do to find inspiration while writing or creating? What’s your favorite muse?
