Judging a Cover by Its Book: Choose the Cover Direction for BOUND TO YOU
Cover voting is now closed. Thanks for all your help!
Happy Tuesday, Swooners!
We know you've been waiting for this one, and we are so excited to finally share them with you: It's time for cover voting for the recently renamed Bound to You by Alyssa Brandon! Here's a summary in case you're in need of a refresher of this super-hot werewolf tale:
Note: This title is for ages 17+
"She's met her mate... and he's met his match.
Megan Ross has been waiting her whole life for her mate to come and sweep her off her feet. But the wolf she meets on the beach is NOT the sweet gentle boy she's been dreaming of. Instead, he's a warrior, one whose suffering has led him to lock his heart away in a prison as cold and hard as a diamond, who fights to resist the bond and their deep sexual attraction.
Far from home, with a soulmate who is still a stranger, Meagan learns that the path to true love isn't quite as straight and easy as she thought..."
Swoon designer Liz D. has dreamed up three steamy cover directions for you to choose from, and have shared some thoughts about her inspiration behind each one (and how the final version would probably be a little different). Remember, the below images aren't necessarily final. These are just directions, so there will most likely be some tweaks made before the book hits the shelves. Hot couple. Beach. Full moon. He's holding her face, which is a little aggressive—I mean alpha!—but she's leaning back into him and he's also kissing her tenderly... it's a great pose. I put the beach in the background because it's where they met, and the full moon is a nod toward them being werewolves. The type has red celtic knots around it to reference James's tattoos.
For final: This couple feels a little old, so I'd like to re-shoot with a younger couple. Also, I love my idea for the ribbon/knot type, but the execution is sadly lacking at the moment.
Here the moon is integrated with the gold title type, which I think is a beautiful effect. The red ribbon references their bond as well as a certain bedroom scene... I'm sure you know what I'm referring to. I love how this cover is evocative rather than provocative.
For final: The photo of the hands is—Well, my friend brought over a DSLR and a light and took some photos of my hands in my living room. The nail polish and ribbon were both hastily added in post. I think this comp is great for getting the concept across, but for final I'd re-shoot with a professional model and a professional photographer in a professional setting.
The light in this photo is just gorgeous, the embrace is intimate—I don't have a lot to say about this cover because I think it speaks for itself!
For final: I actually added the model's shirt because the original photo was too risqué with her uncovered back. It's pretty wonky if you look closely though, and I'd re-do it correctly along with the usual finessing and polishing that comes with taking a cover to final.
