Look Your Bookish Best: Fashion Inspired by Your Favorite Swoon Reads Novels

What could be better than dressing like your favorite book?  Not much, in my opinion.  A few months ago I stumbled upon the Tumblr page Fashion-by-the-Book and immediately fell in love. They put together really cute outfits based on the covers of their favorite books and share them with their followers. I thought this was a really cool, unique idea and it inspired me to put together some of my own outfit creations based on covers of our Swoon Reads books!

love fortunes inspired outfit

Love Fortunes and Other Disasters by Kimberly Karalius

It was a bit intimidating to try and create an outfit that would capture this incredibly cute and quirky cover design, especially because I’m such a huge fan of it, but I’m happy with how this turned out. The color palette used for the cover is so lively and fun and screams romance, so I decided to create a cute date night outfit in the spirit of Love Fortunes and Other Disasters. I paired a lacy, mint green dress with Mary Jane style heels and a nude clutch with an intricate cutout design. I wanted to keep things simple, but the outfit needed a unique piece of jewelry to tie it all together. I was torn between the classic and romantic gold heart shaped locket or the fortune teller inspired necklace, but I think both necklaces are adorable and are a great nod to the main themes of swoonworthy romance and magic in Kimberly Karalius’ debut novel.

all the feels inspired outfit

All the Feels by Danika Stone

I love everything about this cover. Literally everything. It’s bright and original and it so perfectly hits that fangirl sweet spot. I wanted to showcase the fandom elements prominently, but also create an outfit that is cute and comfortable and would work well for either every-day wear or a busy day at DragonCon or Comic Con. I paired blue skinny jeans with a "Professional Fangirl" t-shirt that I now want for my own closet. I wanted to play up the various shades of blue on the cover and went with a darker teal for the hoodie and a more vibrant blue for the backpack that adds a playful, nerdy quality to the outfit that I love. I kept accessories minimal and thought this heart-shaped necklace with just the word "Fangirl" represented was cute and straight to the point. Lastly, no outfit is complete without a comfortable pair of shoes, and a tried and true pair of converse seemed like the best fit.

I hope you love these outfits as much as I do and are inspired to create some of your own!
