Meet the Author of CHASE THE NIGHT, Prerna Pickett!
Where did your idea for Chase the Night come from?
I have very vivid dreams, and all of my stories are inspired by a random scene that takes place while I’m sleeping. I know, I’m just like Stephenie Meyer but without the sparkly vampires. In this particular dream an older gentleman was holding down a teenage boy while a girl in the background tried to break them apart. I woke up and wanted to know more so I decided to write a story about it. The first official chapter started where my dream ended, with the fight, and I worked my way backwards, and then forwards again. My brain is funny, but also very creative.
Chase the Night has to do in part with street racing. What's your dream car, if you could own any car you wanted?
I love the look of a lot of racecars, Mustangs in particular, but there’s no way street racing is something I’d ever be good at. Plus, I’m afraid of what I would do if I ever got my hands on an actual race car. Having said that, I’ve always wanted a Porsche Cayenne. In part because I love cayenne pepper and all things spicy, but mostly because I think they’re pretty.
Who would play your characters in a movie?
Okay, I’ve thought about this a lot:
Avan Jogia as Corey
Maia Mitchell as Tessa
Kaitlyn Dever as Paige
Barry Keoghan as Vance
Kris Wu as Alex
What makes you swoon?
So many things. The almost kisses, the actual kisses, subtle physical tells of a character when they like someone (think Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightly when he helps her into the carriage and flexes his hand as he walks away, oh my swoooon). Oh, and another one is North and South and the train station scene. If you haven’t seen it, go do it now! I could seriously go on and on about this. You want an essay? I’d be happy to write one.
