Meet the Author of SURVIVING ADAM MEADE, Shannon Klare!
Meet the third of four amazingly talented authors joining the Swoon Reads family, Shannon Klare! We were swept away by her sexy and compelling novel about two equally stubborn teens—a determined college-bound girl and their school's prized football star—and all the sparks that fly between them. Don't miss Surviving Adam Meade!
Where did the idea for Surviving Adam Meade come from?
Surviving Adam Meade was inspired by my high school, family, and life experiences. Growing up, my dad worked a job where he was transferred quite a bit. When I was a teenager, he was transferred to a small town near Lubbock, TX. The town was exactly like Pader—tiny, everyone was born and raised there, and football was huge. After making some great friends, I grew to love the town and the people. So, when I started writing Surviving Adam Meade, I knew I wanted to incorporate those elements and I knew I wanted Claire to have the same experiences. The story developed from there, but I added events from my college years as well. It’s kind of a modge-podge of life experiences.
This book features a main character whose dad is a football coach. What are your ultimate game day snacks?
The healthy side of me would say veggies and ranch. The realistic side of me would say chips and queso or chips and salsa. The spicier the better! We usually order pizza too. For the sweeter side of things, Sour Patch Kids, Reese’s, or 100 Grand bars.
Who would play your characters in a movie?
Alycia Debnam-Carey would be my pick for Claire! She’s a fantastic actress and I’m a huge fan of The 100 and Fear the Walking Dead. Daniel Sharman would be Adam. He’s perfect for Adam’s sassy nature, quick wit, and brutal honesty. Ashley Benson would be Riley. Mitchell Hope would be Case. Last, but certainly not least, Ellen Burstyn would be Wanda.
What makes you swoon?
My husband. True story.
He was my first love and we’ve been together eight years—nine in February. He’s an amazing man, and I’m a lucky girl.
