Re-post: Swoon Reads T&C’s
Hi Swoon Readers,
One of our users brought to our attention that manuscript ratings were being tampered with using multiple fraudulent accounts created by one person. We are upset that this has happened, but since we dealt with it once before we now have a process in place to deal with the situation. The fraudulent user, their aliases and their manuscript are being removed immediately.
As Jean explained when this happened previously, it isn’t possible to game the system here. Rating others’ manuscripts poorly will not help your own. Trying to bump your own ratings with fake accounts will not help you either (it is easy to determine if this is being done). Because it violates the rules of the site, all it will do is result in your permanent removal from Swoon Reads.
Please read below for our original blog post about the site’s Terms & Conditions. We take these rules very seriously, and will not hesitate to remove users who are in violation in order to keep Swoon Reads a healthy, happy community. Thanks to all of your who make this site a wonderful place–we promise, we’re going to keep it that way.
We recently had a situation on the site where ratings were tampered with. You can read more about it here, but at Swoon HQ, we thought we would take this opportunity to remind our users to check out our Terms and Conditions page. As part of our Terms and Conditions, we ask our community members:
-Not to make any personal attack on any person, firm or company
-Not to misrepresent your identity, or impersonate any party, including but not limited to misrepresenting your current or previous positions, qualifications, or affiliations
-Not to submit or create any link to any material that is intentionally false or misleading, or is potentially damaging or harmful
-Not to stalk or harass anyone
-Not to take any action that interferes with the proper working of, or places an unreasonable burden on, the infrastructure of this site, or that would damage, compromise the security of, or disrupt this site or any connected network
…just to name a few. To sum up, treat others the way you want to be treated on the site and as always, if you have a question, a problem, or feel like you need to report something, contact us.
