Swoon Spotlight: Kathryn L — Thoughts on Publishing
As part of our ongoing effort to give you a glimpse behind the scenes of publishing, we have a new feature on our blog: Swoon Spotlight! Every week we’re going to introduce you to a Swoon Reads staff member, who has volunteered their time, energy, and enthusiasm to the imprint–while still being amazing at their regular jobs! This week we are shining the spotlight on Kathryn L. Check back every day this week at 2 p.m. to learn more about Kathryn, her job, and her thoughts on life in publishing.
What do you think is the most common misconception about book publishing?
This may only be my parents’ misconception, but some people believe that I have access to a free copy of every book ever published. I really, really don’t.
If you could have any other job in book publishing for one day, what would it be?
I think I would like to be an editor for a day. I honestly have no idea what that would look like, but I hope reading would be involved.
What’s the funniest way you’ve heard a friend or family describe your job?
My family never even attempts to describe my job. They basically just say, “Books, right?” and look at me funny.
