Swoonworthy Recipes — Ranch Cheeseball

You know, participating in NaNoWriMo takes a LOT of time, and even if you aren’t trying to write 50,000 words in a single month, this time of year, with the holidays coming up, becomes increasingly crazy for everyone. But don’t worry, Swoon Reads is here to help!

Every Wednesday this month, we’re going to share one of our favorite Swoonworthy recipes to help you survive NaNoWriMo and get ready for the holiday rush.

Today, I’m going to start off with an incredibly simple and easy recipe for a Ranch Cheeseball that I learned from my aunt. It’s a favorite with my family — my brother and I have been known to squabble over the last few bites!

First, gather the ingredients:

2 (8 oz) packages Cream Cheese
1 (2.8 oz) package Bacon Bits (or crumbled bacon if you have the time to cook it)
1 package Hidden Valley Ranch Dip Mix
1 box of Nabisco Sociables

Ingredients

Next, wander off for 30 minutes to an hour to give the cream cheese time to soften. I recommend using this time for writing or maybe reading a couple of chapters of a new romance novel…

After the cream cheese has softened, open both packages and drop them into a bowl.

Test with a fork to make sure that it’s soft enough to easily mix.

Add Bacon Bits and Ranch Dip.

And mix thoroughly with your fork.

Finally, form into a ball (or any other shape you like) so that it looks nice.

At this point, I usually either wrap mine in plastic wrap and aluminum foil or place in a Tupperware container for easy storage and transport.

And that’s it! Put it in the fridge for at least an hour (or overnight) to firm the cream cheese back up and you are good to go. When you are ready to serve, just set it out with a butter knife and the Nabisco Sociables.

There you have it. One super easy recipe sure to be a hit at any holiday gathering… And really, who says you have to share it all? It’s hard to be creative when you are hungry, and I find that cheese and crackers makes a very filling snack.
