The Speech Bubbles Cover: April’s Cover Design for A LITTLE SOMETHING DIFFERENT
Each of our designers has created a cover concept for A Little Something Different and we’re counting on you to choose which one actually goes on the book! Designer April W. added two very different cover approaches to the mix, and today, she’s going to tell you how she came up with this incredible cover approach:
One of the elements that I loved the most about A Little Something Different was the fact that Gabe and Lea were unaware of how their attraction to each other was being perceived by others. They had little direct connection to the people telling their story from the outside. So on this cover I wanted to show them in their own little world—on the bench in the dark—while the speech bubbles are telling their story from outside the frame. I show them just beginning to lean in towards each other because that’s what they both want, while it’s actually their shadows that kiss. Visually I wanted leave it as a question whether those hopes and expectations become a reality.
