What Is Your Favorite Book Adaptation?
Hopefully you were able to catch the Academy Awards this past Sunday, as there were some really great moments:
Celebrity wonderfulness aside though, there were quite a few film adaptations of books nominated for Oscars this year–The Book Thief, The Great Gatsby, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Even Frozen is loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen.
The award for Best Picture went to a stunning adaptation of Solomon Northup’s autobiography, 12 Years A Slave, the horrifying yet incredibly moving story of a black man who was born free in New York and then kidnapped and sold into slavery. Though as the lovely Lupita Nyong’o (who also won Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film) points out here, it isn’t exactly the best date movie…
So tell us, what are your very favorite romantic adaptations from book to the big screen? If you were voting, who would win the award for most Swoonworthy? And are there any new, upcoming film adaptations of books that you love that you can’t wait to see?
