What’s in a Name?: Help Us Find a Title for Jennifer Honeybourn’s New Book!
As you know, we rely on you, our trusty Swoon Readers, to help us choose the cover direction for our titles. Now, for the first time ever, we’re coming to you for something different—helping us find the perfect title for Jennifer Honeybourn’s new book!
Here’s the lowdown on the plot:
Sixteen-year-old Shelby Black has spent the past year training to be an exorcist.
High school is hard enough without having to explain that you fight demons for a living, so Shelby keeps her extracurricular activity to herself—and she especially doesn’t want her crush Spencer to find out. But when Shelby uncovers new information about her missing mom, she has to decide what she’s willing to risk to find her—including her soul AND a date with Spencer.
What are we looking for in a new title? We’d love something that is…
Funny: Jennifer’s books have a great sense of humor, and the perfect title for this book would have a sense of humor and hint of snark.
Lightly paranormal: There be demons in this book, and the perfect title would let readers know that paranormal elements await them in these pages!
Punny: We love titles like Lish McBride’s Hold Me Closer, Necromancer, and the perfect title for this book would have a nice play on words.
To get the juices flowing, here are some titles that have been rattling around in our brains:
Expelled – This is Jennifer’s original title, and we love that this title evokes the Catholic school that Shelby attends as well as the literal expulsion of demons
The Exorcist’s Apprentice – We love that this title perfectly sums up Shelby’s job, but it might be a shade too serious for this funny and snarky book.
Your Title Here – We want to hear what title you think would be great for Jennifer’s new book! Tell us your ideas in the comments below (and don’t forget that you can “like” other people’s comments with your fave titles). If you submit your title, you could see it on a PUBLISHED book! And if you love one of the titles above, tell us that, too!
