Writing Prompt: The Road Not Taken
Perhaps some of you are familiar with the oldie but goodie, "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost. Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— / I took the one less traveled by, / And that has made all the difference. Arguably what makes it even more interesting is how it might not actually mean what most people think it means—like, at ALL. And what makes for better writing inspiration than something that's open to interpretation?
Take a look at the five "roads diverging in wood" photos below. Do any of them spark inspiration for you?
Where is the road going? Is your character moving toward something, or away from something? What's the tone of the scene? What's the genre of the story?
