Beguiling Trickery Chani Lynn Feener

Description

Kenna Erikson knows absolutely nothing about Norse mythology. Which is daunting, considering she's a volur, a type of seer the Vikings believed garnered favor with the gods. For the most part, she ignores her gifts, and the useless ability to foresee thirty or so seconds into the future. For as long as she can remember, she's had only herself to rely on, and she likes that just fine. However, when shadows suddenly come alive and attack her, she's forced to seek outside help in the form of tall, blonde, and infinitely annoying, Luka. Somehow, Luka knows all about her attackers, and the mythology they spring from. He's also eager to help out, despite the fact they've only just met. But what secret is he keeping? Who is he really? And why does her heart flip every time he's around?

** I was provided a copy of this book for an honest review **

I really, really enjoyed this book (4.5 stars)! It is the second book I've read by Avery, and it was my favorite so far! She is a great writer with a natural flare for helping readers connect with characters. The perfect amount of description and character building! Not knowing much about Norse Mythology I found much of the subject matter to be new- this was a bit confusing at times, especially towards the end, but I found that enough description was provided that I was able to grasp the pivotal points fairly easily. I loved the characters (although I craved a firmer definition of the relationship and what is truly going on between Kenna and Luka- hope that is coming in the next book!) I love tension filled relationships combined with riveting adventure and this is exactly that! The supporting characters were endearing as well and I am excited to read more and find out what happens next! Overall, a very action pack book with a seemingly forbidden relationship that kept me turning pages quickly- I loved every minute of it!

I got a copy via Goodreads for an honest review and I must say I completely enjoyed reading this book
Beguiling Trickery By Tempest C. Avery, I love the fancy name of the book and at some point the 'book title' was one of the reasons I opted for Read-to-Review.

But other than the book title, I feel it was a wonderful story with suspense, twist of plots, series of shocking revelations, tit-bits of romance and instances beyond expectations. A complete package of paranormal adventure and sweet love.

Beguiling Trickery revolves around the story of mythological/mythical creatures and gods, devils and angels, Asgardians and Ragnarök and of-course Kenna Erikson (Völur), the lead character. A teenage girl with power of seeing the future. Throughout her life she considers herself as a freak and ignores her powers which turns out to be her biggest mistake. Eventually she learns to accept her powers and understand the relation between the love of her life and her relation with her past re-incarnations.

Yes! Re-Incarnation is also there in this book. I hardly doubt any factor has been left aside and yet there is a well balance between all the characters and the plots which keep the excitement running throughout the book.

I enjoyed reading this book, its a great combination of all your emotions- you would feel sorry for Kenna at certain point and at the same time her courage fills your heart with an emotional attachment towards her.

Sadly, towards the end I felt the story went on a slow pace but not slow enough to loose interest. And it gained its pace as soon as the fight began, the last fight of victory I was waiting for!! It is always fun to read stories with happy endings and the fun part about this book was; though it had a happy ending yet the story ended in suspense...

I wonder will Kenna and Luke become one? Will Kenna be attacked again? What will happen to Fiske? Lots of questions circling the mind...

I really loved and enjoyed this it's so different to most of the books I have chosen to read lately.

Well where do I start, this book was full of surprises. It's started off slow and confusing, but once your introduced to the main characters. The story suddenly all explodes into fun and games. It's exciting to see what actually is going because the book only give you bits and bobs as and when their needed. It's Just enough to keep u wanting more. I like that Kenna's character is in the same position as the reader because if gives us an understanding of her struggled with things she's finding out and having to come to terms with. All in all I can't wait for the next book as there are still lots of things to find out and be clear up.

I can't wait for the next book!!!!

I was super excited to read something that sounded amazing and had Mythology in it! I love books like that! The problem is that this book was good, but slow. I feel that it had way more potential! I fought with myself just a bit to even get through some very dragging parts.

It’s not a bad book though, the story is actually very interesting! The romance could have used some work though, it was all very cliché and I was not expecting the panty ripping scene. Kind of threw me for a loop there. I love the characters, and Luka..hubba hubba!

So I do suggest giving this book a try, even though it can have boring parts. If you can make it through those then you will not be disappointed. The ending was also a cliffhanger, which makes me very interested in the next book!
