Behind The Scenes Emma Rose

Description

Juggling a degree, a part-time job, and a three-year-old is hard enough for Zoe Hamilton as she moves out to Los Angeles – she doesn’t need any more distractions. Though a chance encounter with A-list actor, Ryan Adams, quickly turns her daily life upside down.

The pair grow closer, and what starts off as friendship slowly begins to turn into something more. Though when the paparazzi begin to harass both Zoe and her daughter, she must consider whether love is truly worth the consequences of her decision.

The risks are high, but so are the rewards.

I think I read this and "The Things That Break Us" in the wrong order, but they both stand completely on their own which was great. At first, I thought this would be to similar to Dean's story, but I like that you moved past the 'we're friends, but everyone but us knows we aren't' thing much more quickly in this. I think you grew as a writer after this, so if you go back through this you could really take it to a new level. I think sometimes it feels like Zoe talks to Abbie like more of a babysitter than a mom, but that could just be me. One nitpicky thing to watch out for that I also noticed in your other novel are repeat phrases, there was a lot of pulling impossibly close, blush creeping up the neck, and chills going down the spine. Great job, though. I think you have a real talent for NA Romance.

Lots of cutesy and cheesy romance. A lot of the conflicts felt very contrived and fell flat.

Good story and solid writing. I enjoyed it a lot. There are of course some minor errors, but nothing that cannot be fixed.

This has good potential. My suggestions are to make the dialogue between sisters more casual (it's too formal for sisters) and obviously the author is British. Some words need to be spelled with the American spelling and terms like "university" and "till" would need to be changed.

The story is original, a real breath of fresh air in the reading community polluted by mysterious bad boys and goodie two shoes. The characters are humorous, relatable, quirky and make you fall in love with the author and her writing.
The only inconvenience that reading this book has brought to me is that now, my expectations are set extremely high!
