Everyone knows that Nathan is in love with his best friend, Preston—everyone except Preston. Nathan has always accepted that Preston was too focused on his swim training to worry about love. But Preston is heading off to train for the Olympics soon, so if Nathan wants his chance at love, he has to speak up now. But saying “I love you” is surprisingly difficult, even for someone as confident as Nathan.
Maybe a whirlwind vacation in Europe could help? But . . . what if it doesn’t work out and he loses the best friend he’s ever had?
For years one of Nathan’s favorite things to do was watch Preston swim. It was like watching performance art. The way his arms sliced through the water, each stroke pulling him forward with speed and precision. The way his back muscles flexed took Nathan’s breath away every time. It must be the closest someone could get to the perfect balance between physicality, endurance, and concentration.
Well, maybe not right this instant since the swimming god was completely botching things.
“What the hell are you doing?” Nathan yelled, jumping to his feet and shoving his fingers through his dark brown hair—a Parker trait he shared with his twin sister and cousin. If strands happened to separate from his scalp from pulling too hard, he didn’t care.
His shoulders tensed when Preston finished the hundred meter freestyle in third. He removed his goggles and swimming cap in one smooth pull. Panting, he looked up at the digital board displaying lap times.
Even from afar Nathan could feel the frustration radiating off him. To qualify for Team USA a swimmer must finish at least second in his respective event. Anything less was unacceptable.
Time for an ass-kicking.

No Love Allowed:
"Given the growing awareness towards understanding the stigmas, issues and concerns surrounding mental illness, I find it refreshing that this book doesn’t preach about what to do or how to be – it just tells a story of two people who fall in love and who just also happen to struggle with issues that deserve a place to be talked about." —Whatsageek.com
“The romance was incredible. There was also a great set of secondary characters. Nathan was my favorite. And I'm so thrilled that he's going to get his own story too. I can't wait for it. The perfect YA contemporary romance for me. It had humor, romance, awesome characters and great writing. Pretty much everything I want in a book.” —Bookfever
“Wow. I loved this. LOVED it. Kate used a deft touch, getting Didi just right. I’m looking forward more in this series because all the main players deserve their own stories. Read this book. You will NOT be disappointed.” —Christine Ashworth, Swoon Reader
“It’s like a modern fairy tale.” —Camelle, Swoon Reader
My original plan for the Dodge Cove series was all three books would have parallel storylines. Basically everything happens during the summer after graduation. While Didi and Caleb were getting together Nathan and Preston were figuring out their feelings for each other and Jackson comes back for Natasha. When No Love Allowed as chosen as part of the third list ...read moreNo Love Allowed, sequel, writing, book, Swoon Reads, No Holding Back, editing, LGBT, Disclaimer: I Like Boys, LGBTQ, Kate Evangelista, author
I believe I’ve waxed poetic about how much I love the editing process. In fact, I have several blog posts that prove this statement. As a young writer, I hated editing. I believed staunchly in the fact that what I had written was the best form the story would ever take and that I had intended every scene the ...read moreNo Love Allowed, YA, writing, wisdom, No Holding Back, book, Swoon Reads, young adult, editing, teen, Kate Evangelista, author
I have been thinking about writing quirks of late. Over the years, I have been asked “What is my writing quirk?” many times. Problem is, I’ve never known how to answer this question properly. Mostly I would say that I need a bottle of water with me while I write. But that doesn’t sound quirky at all, now ...read moreNo Love Allowed, quirk, writing, funny, No Holding Back, Swoon Reads, habits, Kate Evangelista, author, writers
I don’t know how spies do it. I don’t even know how other people can do it. Keeping secrets isn’t my best trait. In fact, I damn near suck at it. Case in point, when I saw the cover and the ARCs for this particular announcement, I HAD to share it with others. A magical circle of ...read moreNo Love Allowed, YA, announcement, Preston, travel, trip, Nathan, No Holding Back, book, Swoon Reads, young adult, news, new, Europe, teen, Kate Evangelista, author
